Karnataka set to receive four Oxygen Express in 24-hours

  • Karnataka gets 437.1 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen by rail in 24 hours. 

Karnataka in the last 24-hours since 8.25pm on May 31 received three Oxygen Express trains operated by Indian Railways at Inland Container Depot (ICD), Whitefield, BengaluruThe state will receive the fourth such special train one at 6pm on June 1. Railways are continuously maintaining the supply chains across India intact despite the crisis brought by the Covid19 pandemic. The movement of essential commodities, medical oxygen, perishables are happening round-the-clock.

The 20th Oxygen Express reached ICD at 8.25pm on May 31. It had started from Rourkela, Odisha on May 30 at 4.15pm. This Oxygen Express carried 85.07 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) in four cryogenic containers. The 21st Oxygen Express reached ICD at 2.40am on June 1 It had started from Tatanagar, Jharkhand on May 30 at 8.45pm. This oxygen express carried 120 tonnes of LMO in six cryogenic containers.

The 22nd oxygen express reached ICD at 8.15am on June 1. This special train had started from Raigad, Maharashtra on May 31 at 1.33pm carrying 119.64 Tonnes of LMO in six cryogenic containers. The 23rd oxygen express is on the way to Karnataka from Kanalus, Jamnagar, Gujarat. It started at 10.45am on May 31 and is expected to reach ICD at 6.00pm on June 1. The train is carrying six cryogenic containers containing 112.39 tonnes LMO.

So far, Karnataka has received 2561.24 tonnes of LMO by Rail. Indian Railways has so far run 321 Oxygen Expresses and transported more than 21939 tonnes of LMO in 1304 tankers to destinations all over the country and bring relief to 15 states in their fight against Covid -19. The arrival of four Oxygen Special Trains to Karnataka in the last 24-hours meant that the state had received 473.1 tonnes of LMO, which is being used to mitigate the woes of people affected by the pandemic.
