ICD Whitefield receives two more Oxygen Express trains

Inland Container Depot (ICD), Whitefield in Bengaluru handled two more Oxygen Express trains in the early hours of June 5. These were the 26th and 27th Oxygen Special trains to reach ICD and the two trains transported 227.66 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) between them. While the 26th Oxygen Express started from Tatanagar in Jharkhand, the 27th Oxygen Express started its journey from Kanalus, Jamnagar in Gujarat.

Hubballi headquartered South Western Railway which handles these consignments of life-saving medical oxygen through its Bengaluru division stated that the 26th Oxygen Express reached ICD at 12.05am. It has departed from Tatanagar at 5.30pm on June 3 carrying 120 tonnes of LMO in six cryogenic containers. The 27th Oxygen Express reached ICD at 4.55am and had left Kanalus on May 3 at 10.50 pm. This Oxygen Express carried 107.66 tonnes of LMO, also in six cryogenic containers.

So far, Karnataka has received 3,096.88 tonnes of LMO by Rail. Indian Railways has so far run 359 Oxygen Expresses and transported more than 24840 tonnes of LMO in 1463 tankers all over the country and bring relief to 15 states in their fight against Covid19. Incidentally, Oxygen expresses crossed 10000 MT of LMO delivery to the southern states. Among the Southern states Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka received more than 2500 MT of LMO thus far.
