29th Oxygen Express reaches ICD, Whitefield

The 29th Oxygen Express reached Inland Container Depot, Whitefield, Bengaluru at 1.50pm on June 8. It had started from Rourkela, Odisha at 10.30am on June 8. This train has carried 126.78 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) by six cryogenic containers. So far, Karnataka has received 3340.77 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen by rail. The train is operating as part of an initiative by Indian Railways that is working with the states to supply critical LMO to help them meet medical needs.

Indian Railways has so far run 383 oxygen expresses and transported more than 26,891 tonnes of LMO in 1567 tankers to all over the country and brought relief to more than 30 cities and towns in 15 states in their fight against Covid -19. Indian Railways has created a 'green corridor' for the movement of these trains to ensure that this life-saving product reaches the indenting state in the shortest possible time. This is then moved by road to the respective cities and towns in the states concerned
