28th Oxygen Express reaches ICD, Whitefield

Inland Container Depot, Whitefield in Bengaluru on June 6 received the 28th Oxygen Express at 5.50pm. This special train had started from Kanalus, Jamnagar, Gujarat at 11.45am on June 5. This train has carried 117.11 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen in six cryogenic containers. So far, Karnataka has received 3213.99 tonnes of LMO by rail and has been instrumental in the state's quest to address the shortage of much needed LMO to address the issues posed by the pandemic.

Indian Railways has so far run 376 Oxygen Expresses and transported more than 26,281 tonnes of LMO in 1534 tankers to all over the country and brought relief to more than 30 cities and towns in 15 states in their fight against Covid19. Indian Railways has created a 'green corridor' for the movement of these trains to ensure that this life-saving product reaches the indenting state in the shortest possible time. This is then moved by road to the respective cities and towns in the states concerned.

It may be noted that 376 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various states. Till 2.40pm on June 6, six loaded Oxygen Expresses were on the run with more than 483 MT of LMO in 26 tankers. Southern States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka received more than 3000 MT of LMO each from Oxygen Expresses. Oxygen Expresses offloaded more than 2800 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
