Railways keep LMO flowing into Karnataka; two more O2 Express reach ICD

Indian Railways endeavor to keep precious liquid medical oxygen (LMO) flowing to states, including Karnataka continued when the 17th Oxygen Express reached ICD Whitefield at 1.10am on May 29. This special train had departed from Kanalus, Jamnagar in Gujarat at 6.15pm on May 27 with a load of 111.98 tonnes of LMO in six cryogenic containers. A green corridor created by the respective zonal railways at the direction of the ministry of railways helped the movement of this train.

The 17th Oxygen Express That Reached ICD, Whitefield
Thus far, Karnataka has received 2006.69 tonnes of LMO by rail. Indian Railways has so far run 289 oxygen expresses and transported more than 19,408 tonnes of LMO in 1162 tankers all over the country to assist state governments in their fight against Covid-19. Indian Railways in dispatching life-saving LMO to various states based on their requirement after sourcing it from states that produce it. The states demanding LMO arrange for the special cryogenic containers for transportation.

18th O2 EXPRESS AT ICD
The 18th Oxygen Express too reached ICD at 4.35pm on May 29. It started from Jamnagar, Gujarat at 10.40am on May 28 carrying 109.84 tonnes LMO by 6 cryogenic containers. With this, the total quantity of LMO that Karnataka received has gone up to 2116.53 tonnes by Rail. Indian Railways has so far run 305 Oxygen Expresses and transported more than 20,000 tonnes of LMO in 1237 tankers and brought relief to 15 states to help in their fight against Covid19.
