PM pays tribute to woman loco pilot crew of Oxygen Express

The May 30th episode of Mann Ki Baat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an ode to woman power which has been playing a vital role in the time of this global pandemic.  The PM in the day's episode interacted with loco pilot Sireesha Gajini who has piloted the 7th Oxygen Express to reach ICD, Whitefield. He complimented Sireesha as an embodiment of woman power.

The PM said mothers and sisters will be proud to hear that one oxygen express is being run fully by women. Every woman of the country will feel proud of that. Not just that, every Indian will feel proud. Sireesha said Indian Railways has been supportive in this endeavour and facilitated quick transport through 'Green Corridor' for Oxygen Express.

Sireesha Gajini, Loco Pilot Who Interacted With PM
The loco pilot told PM that her parents were her inspiration. "My father encouraged all his children, all three daughters to study well and supported them in their professional ambitions," Sireesha said. Sireesha Gajini with assistant loco pilots Aparna NP and Neelam Kumar respectively have been part of various Oxygen Express trains driven from Jolarpettai Junction to Bengaluru.

They have taken up the responsibility when their turn came up, for piloting these trains, readily. These women have forayed into what was till now considered as the forte of men. Their professional exploits will emerge as shining examples of hope for numerous girls dreaming of a career in Railways, in frontline roles rather than the traditional non-frontline, administrative positions.
