Karnataka receives 10th Oxygen Express At ICD Whitefield

Despite the challenges posed by the impending cyclonic situation, Indian Railways continued to dutifully transport liquid medical oxygen (LMO) along with essential commodities throughout the nation. Indian Railways has partnered actively and robustly with state governments in the fight against the Covid19 Pandemic and the receipt of 120 tonnes of LMO at ICD, Whitefield under Bengaluru division of Hubballi headquartered South Western Railway is a testimony to this resolve.

The delivery of LMO has brought hope and uplifted the confidence among the public and healthcare proving staff engaged in frontline against the war on Covid -19. This has been also made possible due to the efforts of Railway frontline staff working silently, but sincerely day in and day out. The maintenance staff of Railways have ensured that all assets are kept in good condition for swift and efficient transport of LMO through ‘Green Corridor’.

The 10th Oxygen Express accordingly reached ICD Whitefield at 3.05pm on May 24. This train had started from Tatanagar, Jharkhand at 10.15am on May 23 and carried six cryogenic containers transporting 120 tonnes of LMO. So far, Karnataka has received 1182.14 tonnes of LMO by Rail. Indian Railways has so far run 247 Oxygen Expresses and transported more than 16023 tonnes of LMO in 977 tankers to all over the country to assist state governments in their fight against Covid19.

HIGHEST EVER SINGLE DAY LMO DELIVERED

This endeavour saw Indian Railways deliver the highest ever single-day load of more than 1142 MT of LMO relief that oxygen expresses on May 23. The previous best was 1118 MT that Indian Railways delivered on May 20.  As of 2.15pm on May 24, 247 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various states and during which time, 12 loaded oxygen expresses are on the run with more than 920MT of LMO in 50 tankers. 

Amongst the Southern States, delivery of LMO to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka crossed 1000 MT each.
