Bengaluru division staff of SWR aid suspected Covid19 patient at KSR Rly Station

Humanity is alive and kicking even in these testing times. Giving credence to this was the swiftness with which staff at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station reacted to a woman abandoned on their premises - ostensibly by her family, who suspected she had contracted the coronavirus. This chain of event transpired in the late hours of May 22 when the staff at the station noticed that a middle-aged woman had been left abandoned in the KSR Bengaluru railway station premises.

Immediately Shankrappa, Assistant Sub Inspector, H  Meena, woman constable and K R Kumar, deputy station manager (commercial) of Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway reached the spot and found she was suffering from high fever. It was learnt that she had been abandoned at the station by family members suspecting that she had been infected with Covid-19. The staff members immediately cleaned her up, gave her water and food and spoke to her and tried to give her some solace.

They coordinated with Government Railway Police and arranged to send her to KC General Hospital, where her treatment was arranged. Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar Verma appreciated the timely gesture of the staff and said that such acts of selflessness and compassion reinforce faith in humanity. It is these acts that strive to reinforce faith in humanity that has been badly shaken by the pandemic that has ravaged the world since last year.
