19th Oxygen Express Rolls Into ICD, Whitefield
Karnataka on May 29th received its 19th Oxygen Express, courtesy of Indian Railways. The train carrying 120 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) in 6 cryogenic containers reached Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Whitefield, Bengaluru at 12.20pm. It had started from Tatanagar, Jharkhand at 8.50am on May 29. Thus far, Karnataka has received 2236.53 tonnes of LMO by rail placing it in a list of 15 states to have benefitted from this pandemic driven endeavour of Railways.
Indian Railways has as of date operated 305 Oxygen Expresses and transported 21,392 tonnes of LMO in 1274 tankers, bringing relief to states in their fight against Covid19. It may be noted that 313 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various states with this precious lifesaver. According to the ministry, as of 2.30pm on May 30, five loaded Oxygen Expresses were on run with more than 406 MT of LMO in 23 tankers.
Delivery of the latest tranche of 120MT of LMO at ICD meant Karnataka with Haryana had crossed the 2000 MT of LMO received in this complex endeavour that Railways has worked out. For Tamil Nadu and Telangana, the Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) delivery crossed 1800 MT each. Incidentally, this entire endeavour started on April 24 when Maharashtra became the first state to receive a load of 126 MT of LMO on April 24 and it has been wheels in motion since then.The 19th Oxygen Express That Arrived At ICD, Whitefield On May 30
Indian Railways in its endeavour to deliver as much LMO as possible in the shortest time possible to the requesting states has touched 39 cities/towns in 15 states. These are Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Assam. Indian Railways has mapped different routes with Oxygen supply locations and keeps itself ready with any emerging need of the States.
