SWR achieves highest ever punctuality rate

Hubballi headquartered South Western Railway (SWR) has achieved highest ever punctuality of 96.27% in the financial year 2020-21, since its formation on April 1, 2003. SWR has surpassed railway ministry’s punctuality target of 88%. The zonal railway has also achieved the distinction of attaining the fourth position among all India zonal railways punctuality position up from the 16th position out of 17 zonal railways almost a year ago.

This is a significant achievement considering that SWR is operating 70% of mail/express trains compared to pre-Covid19 days (61 pairs out of 86 pairs of M/E trains have been restored). This number of restoration of trains is the highest in all the zones of Indian Railway. SWR has achieved this feat despite carrying out record number of new line (52 km), doubling (207 km), and electrification (303 kms) in FY 2020-21.

This achievement has been possible due to persistent efforts of operating, engineering and signal and telecom departments of SWR. Gajanan Mallya, the new General Manager of SWR congratulated the team of officers and staff responsible for this feat and exhorted them to maintain the punctuality at top position to enhance convenience and comfort to the passengers and public, a communique from the zonal railway stated.

SWR could mobilise and sell scrap of 42932 MT against a commitment of 26800 MT.
